FREDERICK-WHITE HOUSE MODEL

The goal of this assignment was to recreate an advanced and very precise scale model of the Fredericks-White house, designed by Glenn Murcutt.

The Fredericks house, Glenn Murcutts eighth design, was originally designed for a manager of a dairy farm. The Fredericks family however, loved the end result so much that they decided to purchase another house for the manager and live in their new Murcutt house themselves. The farm house, located in the New South Wales rain forest, is built around an old South-African style fire place, which remained from a dairy farm house bulldozed in the 1940s. The Fredericks house is one of the few wooden houses Murcutt has designed and consists of two buildings, or better said; machines. Murcutt sees his houses as "machines for inhabiting the landscape", which work together with its environment.
